1st Family Outing After replacing the pushrod cover gasket we decided to take advantage of a beautiful Fall day. So we loaded up 4 bicycles and a scooter and drove to a park about 20 minutes from the house. The temperature was in the mid 50's with sunny skies so it was perfect biking weather. This was the 1st time we have driven anywhere as a family in the Suburban. The kids all sat in the back. I stopped after a mile or so and let Kelly drive. She had a hard time finding first gear but it is an old truck. At the park we began our ride after a potty break. Kelly was the navigator and picked the 1.75 mile trail. It was fun exploring and to my surprise Houston (8) took the point on his scooter. After a while the signs grew few and the trail became dim. It merged in with a residencial street. Then we came to an intersection without a trail sign. The logical way was to the right. The only problem was this road went downhill then uphill pretty steeply. And there was a creek running across at the bottom. I rode down to take a look. It was about 6 inches at the niddle. Not too bad. After everyone crossed I had to ride Houston on my back then go back for his scooter. He would have gotten soaked from the shins down otherwise. We eventually found our way back to the park. The kids played on the playground and Kelly and I loaded the bikes. We will definitley go back. It was a great playground and a fun trail. We will probably take a different path next time though. After all the work we've done and hours we have spent on this classic, it's great to enjoy it as a family. |
